Worldwide connected

As a digital think tank, the Digital Hub Ruhr in the heart of the Rhine-Ruhr region is a cooperation between four innovation-driven IT and telecommunications specialists who are leaders in their respective fields:

GELSEN-NET – regional IT system house and leading fiber optic specialist in the region

Verizon – the world's leading telecommunications provider

K-TEL Communications – IT and telecommunications consultancy for individual ICT solutions from Berlin

GELSENWASSER AG – specialist and partner for sustainable, critical infrastructure for municipalities, industry and commerce

The City of Gelsenkirchen as a local anchor and the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences as a research partner have taken over the sponsorship of the Digital Hub Ruhr. With the Digital Campus Zollverein we were able to gain a network partner.

The digital ecosystem

Networks

Networks are the basis of any digital innovation. With them, the foundation of the entire ecosystem is laid and IoT data can be collected efficiently. From LoRaWan to WiFi to fiber optics or 5G – the latest network technologies are presented at the Digital Hub Ruhr.

Access to communications networks and digital services, and thus the provision of sufficient bandwidth, is of crucial importance for people, companies, and municipalities today. In this context, a wide variety of communications networks form the prerequisite and basis for complex applications in areas such as transportation, health, administration, and others. It's not just about connecting people, but also machines. This creates the basis for the Internet of Things.
